Neil Simon Festival gives a peek at 2015 season

CEDAR CITY — The Neil Simon Festival announced this week its peek at the 2015 season which promises a diverse slate of four shows which will run during July and August, exact dates to be determined.

The festival’s 13th season includes Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical play “Chapter 2” and the Tony Award nominated musical “They’re Playing Our Song.” The musical includes a book written by Simon with lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager and music by Marvin Hamlisch. Larry Shue’s award-winning show “The Foreigner” will also play, along with Herb Gardner’s comedy “I’m Not Rappaport.”

With the focus being to bring laughter to audiences in the 2015 Neil Simon Festival season, Richard Bugg, festival founder and  Southern Utah University associate professor of theatre, will work and direct the productions with Peter Sham, SUU associate professor of theatre and the book/lyricist for “Lend Me A Tenor: The Musical.”

Actor Clarence Gilyard, who played costar to Chuck Norris on “Walker, Texas Ranger” and  costar to Andy Griffith on “Matlock,” will also direct and participate in the shows as he has done in previous festival seasons.
