DURANGO, Colorado — The West’s premier adventure race series, the Adventure Xstream Race Series consisting of Sprint, 12- and 24-hour adventure races in spectacular locations such as Moab, Utah; Durango, Colorado; Buena Vista, Colorado; Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and Breckenridge, Colorado announces the Moab AXS Finale race to be held in Moab, Utah, this fall.
The race will take place the first weekend in October and includes 24-30 hours of racing and 100 miles of nonstop adventures including kayaking, trekking, mountain biking, navigation and rappelling throughout the Utah Canyonland country. The first team to cross the finish line together, having successfully completed all challenges and made it to all checkpoints will be declared the winners.
“The Adventure Xstream Race Series has gained a reputation for staging its events in beautiful and challenging terrain, and Moab has this in abundance,” Race Director Will Newcomer said. “We are excited to have this Moab 24/30 hour Race as the season finale and offer it to racers across the world, in light of the overwhelming demand for authentic and challenging adventure races.”
Moab is a region of duality, with both majestic desert canyon lands and harsh rugged mountainous terrain. In October 2014, hundreds of teams will converge on the world famous terrain of Moab. They will race through 100-plus miles of Utah’s most impressive terrain by mountain biking on rugged slickrock trails, paddling down the majestic Colorado River, trekking into remote canyon country, rappelling fixed ropes down towering red rock walls and orienteering among more than 25 check points and over 100 miles.
