ST. GEORGE — In the battle of unbeaten foes, the Desert Hills Thunder overwhelmed the Cedar Redmen in every phase of the game Friday night at Thunder Stadium. The Thunder offense out-gained its counterpart 488-176 in yardage.
Apart from Brock Oldroyd’s 89-yard run in the third quarter, the Redmen never got more than eight yards on any other down. Desert Hills running back Bridger Cowdin, who was leading the region in rushing before the game, tacked another 284 yards and three touchdowns to his season totals.
D-Hills jumped out early, scoring on a 39-yard TD pass from Nick Warmsley to Stetson Wood. A bad snap on a punt gave DH two free points on a safety, the Cody Ricketts ran one in from 5-yards out to make it 15-0, still in the first quarter.
Cowdin scored two rushing TDs in the second quarter, including a 72-yard jaunt, and the rout was on at 31-0 at halftime. Cowdin also scored on a 54-yarder later in the game.
