(Note: St. George News originally erroneously reported that Cedar had won the match, when, in fact, Desert hills won easily. We sincerely apologize for the mistake.)
Desert Hills opened region with a convincing straight set victory over Cedar Thursday night, 25-13, 25-14, 25-10. The Thunder won the region-opener in convincing fashion and look to defend their region championship after not allowing Cedar more than 14 points in any one game.
DHHS is 1-0 on region and 2-0 overall.
The win makes Cedar 0-1 in region and 6-5 overall. That record includes victories over East, Maple Mountain and Highland.

Meanwhile, defending state champ Hurricane opened region play by knocking off Dixie 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-16, 25-23). The Lady Tigers won two preseason matches and are 3-0 overall. Hurricane is at Pine View Tuesday. Dixie hosts Desert Hills Tuesday.
