ST. GEORGE – One person was extricated and transported to the hospital Tuesday morning after their vehicle was T-boned while trying to make a left-hand turn at the intersection of 1450 S. River Road in St. George.

“The light blue minivan was traveling north on River Road, and had a green light,” St. George Police Officer Jeremy Needles said. “The tan Buick was traveling southbound on River Road, making a left-hand turn eastbound onto 1450 South.”

The driver of the tan Buick tried to complete their left-turn without a green light, Needles said, and turned right in front of the light-blue minivan and was t-boned by the minivan.

St. George firefighters had to extricate one of the two occupants of the tan Buick due to the doors being crushed on impact. One woman was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George with non-life threatening injuries, Needles said.

One eastbound lane on 1450 South was blocked while emergency crews worked to clean up the accident. Traffic was still allowed to flow as it was diverted to one lane around the accident.

The driver of the Buick was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, he said.
