Upon review and screening of the investigative materials received in this case from Timothy Linton, of the St. George Police Department, Washington County Attorney Brock Belnap chose to only prosecute on 12 of the 44 charges for which Kyle Matthew West, 25, of Washington City, was arrested, according to court documents.

West’s bail was reduced from $220,000 to $30,000 by order of magistrate Eric A. Ludlow of the 5th District Court. West posted bail and has been released pending findings in due course.

West was arrested after the owner of George’s Corner Restaurant on St. George Boulevard told officers she had discovered he’d been changing the credit card tip amounts left by his customers on their credit card receipts.

The dollar amounts that were changed totaled $335 for the month of August, according to court documents, and the restaurant owner was still working on the credit card receipts for June and July.

West’s next court appearance is set for Aug. 25.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

If he would have baked a baby in his car he’d have made a lot more than $335. Live and learn…

I can’t believe the disgusting and unfeeling comments that some people can post here. There was NO criminal intent in the case of the baby death. It was a tragic accident. Can you imagine what that mother is going thru? No, I’m sure you can’t, judging by your comments, but I can because I have lost a baby as a result of a birth defect and it is a horrible thing to endure. I can guarantee you that making money is the last thing on that mother’s mind. In this case, however, criminal intent and making money was definitely on this young man’s mind. Try to show a little maturity with your comments please.

Oh please I’m so sick of people feeling sorry for the mom. Feel sorry for the child. I’m sorry for a loss but a birth defect is different than neglect and leaving a baby in the car and causing its death. Intent doesn’t matter in that case. A reasonable person does not forget about their child. Yes, she will have guilt the rest of her life, may she find peace. But this unfortunate incident caused a death.and the incident is neglect

I’ve been in George’s Corner twice. First time, wife and I had dinner there and were not impressed. Second time, I went in by myself for breakfast, and waited for approx 20 minutes, watching them seat couples and families while they ignored me. I left, and won’t be going back.
However, to say the restaurant will probably rehire this jerk, is a pretty dumb thing to say. After all, it was the restaurant who called the cops on him. No, they won’t be hiring him back. My guess is that he has cost them plenty in credit card charge backs.

So you say it was a dumb comment about hiring this jerk back??? Well, tell me why the … did you decide to write about how often and when you patronage this business. And I would guess that they probably don’t want you back. Your a jerk too.
        Ed. ellipsis.
