ST. GEORGE — A 27-year-old St. George man was arrested for drug charges and warrants Wednesday morning after he attempted to run from officers near the Town Oaks townhomes in St. George.
The St. George Communications Center received a report about 10 a.m. of a suspicious man who was seen jumping over walls and running through the Town Oaks complex, located at 450 E. 700 South in St. George. This led police to investigate the man, St. George Police Sgt. Spencer Holmes said.
After police arrived on scene and began approaching the man, he threw his backpack and other belongings at officers and took off running. Police officers told him to stop but he continued to run, Holmes said.
When the man exited the Town Oaks complex, the Dixie High School resource officer helped set up a “containment,” which is the technique for boxing in an individual, Holmes said. As soon as the man saw the resource officer come out of the school, he surrendered and was arrested.
The man was most likely running because he had two warrants for his arrest and was also in possession of methamphetamine and syringes, Holmes said. The man is also wanted for questioning on a separate incident.
“The drugs were found in the backpack,” Holmes said.
The man will be booked into the Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility. His name has not yet been released.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Nice article. I drove by the scene shortly after this happened. The article does not explain the ambulance or why a Defibrillator was next to the suspect.
