ST. GEORGE – Oak Grove campground was reopened this week in light of recent monsoonal weather patterns abating the extreme fire danger to the comfort of fire officials and the Pine Valley District Ranger.
“With the recent rains, we feel like we can safely allow people back into the Oak Grove campground,” district Fire Management Officer Ken Henson said. “If we get another hot and dry weather pattern back in here that dries out the vegetation again, we may have to consider closing it again.”
Pine Valley District Ranger said, “We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding with respect to the campground closure. I know it is a favorite place for some people. Public safety is our highest priority, and I am happy to announce that we feel the threat from fire danger is low enough right now that we can reopen the Oak Grove again.”

Ditto to above. We hauled our entire extended family up there this evening for a picnic and it was locked up. Very VERY frustrating.
As I replied to Wood, we will make inquiries for you, Camper. Stand by.

I just ran up there Saturday, August 23rd. Road was open, campground all accessible, but I didn’t see a soul up there. But the gate was open. I did not see any campground hosts, but didn’t look around much either.
