ST. GEORGE – St. George News joins Marie Bowcut in sponsoring her brand new enterprise bringing Southern Utah what ladies really want: The Ultimate Girls Day Out; an unconventional convention of all things embodying  the feminine spirit – the pretty, the prissy, powerful and proud, women strong and sassy, spiritual, serene and revitalized.

The expo will be held at the Dixie Center in St. George Sept. 5-6 and will feature the Taste of Home Cooking Show.

Bowcut has spent the last several months planning and searching for the very best products and services, bringing the very best companies, boutiques and brands together for a whole new women’s expo unlike St. George has ever seen before – combining everything women love into one ultimate event.

Grab your girlfriends, sisters, moms, and daughters and get ready for two days of inspiration, relaxation, shopping and fun. Find everything from food and cooking demonstrations to expert advice on beauty secrets and fashion.

Go back to school with Taste of Home Cooking instruction and tantalizing tastings

Culinary specialist and home economist Kristi Larson brings her passion for food and shares new ideas for fresh ways to prepare sumptuous dishes at the Taste of Home Cooking School where students can indulge in free samples and gourmet tastings.

toh“This is only the third time that I’m aware of that Taste of Home has hit St. George,” Bowcut said, “and we attract people from California, Arizona, Nevada – they will come to St. George because Taste of Home is a big thing.”

Taste of Home students can expect to see 10 recipes demonstrated in about two and a half hours with lots of prizes given away during the live show, including 10 dishes made by Larson on stage, and new tips, tricks, and kitchen gadgets. They will leave with the coveted gift bag stuffed with magazines, coupons, samples and a free subscription to either Taste of Home or Healthy Cooking magazine.

Annie, get your gun – laser or glue, there’s a workshop for you

Rowdy’s Range will be offering attendees a different kind of fun with laser gun target practice shooting.

“Colby at Rowdy’s Range said ‘for an Ultimate Girls Day Out, we want to help create that experience – we wanna be there and do that,’” Bowcut said. “It was so cool to see a guy excited about coming to a women’s event.”

Wood Creations will offer a make-and-take area for ladies to complete a project with their kids or girlfriends. Their dry and finished project will be waiting for them to pick-up and take home after they’ve indulged in shopping and exploring the expo.

“Everything I heard was missing from the other women’s expo that I started 13 years ago, I’m trying to make sure that it’s at this event,” Bowcutt said. “I want it to be a huge success so that people say ‘I can’t wait until next year – it’s going to be so much fun!’”

I’m not familiar with Marie Bowcut. Obviously she’s an events organizer, but who does she work for, and why wasn’t she further identified in this piece?

Is SGN taking on the Spectrum’s bi-annual women’s event at the convention center? If so, why not say so instead of a thinly veiled quote at the end of the story?

St. George News is sponsoring Ultimate Girls Day Out, chickweed, bringing our support to a new event that we anticipate will knock girls’ bobby sox off. 😀
Watch and see, we’ll bring more report on this promising event in days to follow.

I appreciate the reply, but none of the questions I raised about basic reporting were answered. Now disappointed twice.

      • Tracie August 11, 2014 at 2:18 pm

Yeeeah… just a note- girls don’t wear bobby sox anymore. It’s not 1954.

These events being billed as “what ladies really want” and “combining everything women love into one ultimate event” really grate on me. Not only does it not represent a LOT of women, but it suggests that we’re all self-centered and shallow, only concerned about our spa treatments and fancy new nails. Those things are fine and have their place, but surely you can think of a way to promote these expos without claiming to be everything women want.

“Prissy?” Really? Sounds AWESOME. Enjoy your day, but you don’t represent all women.

  • get back in the kitchen August 10, 2014 at 9:27 pm

What are they thinking? The only thing these women around here need to know is to keep your mouth shut, have 8 kids, obey your husband, and take your antidepressants.

    • Bartman August 11, 2014 at 7:36 am

Your a … “get back in the kitchen”

    • Exciting? August 11, 2014 at 8:02 am

Fashion show and learn how to cook? That’s excitement to women around here?

What women in St George think is going out is going to a public group latch-on/nursing event & watching each other nurse, going to the splash pad and showing adults how they coplay with their six babies, sitting around with other women talking about “the relationship”, talking about church and maybe attending some private toy party. They are extremely provincial & unexciting. After having six babies, they get divorced and look for another guy to pay for them.

Some women- maybe, but there are women who appreciate furthering their education, serving others doing good in the community and doing their best to raise the next generation not to be heathens or unappreciative of blessings and talents they are given. Please don’t over generalize your opinion of st. George women. There are many things women could do with their time and money and perhaps this expo and the things you mentioned isn’t your idea of what they should be doing with that time. That’s your opinion and you are entitled to it. Just please try to have a more positive outlook on women in general and you might be surprised at the good you see instead of the bad.

      • ST GEORGE WOMEN August 11, 2014 at 3:23 pm

St George women live in a bubble world of fantasy and focus on image and looks, a perception of how they should appear to everyone else. Instead of being themselves as individuals, they are just another one of the herd, a clone, Some of them who I talk to have no worldly view of anything outside their little pretend world of mayberry, other than what they are told to think. May as well believe the world is flat, and they’ll fall into some abyss if they venture past the city limit. St George women have told me I should grow up when I mentioned my interests. It puzzling, because they are the ones excited about Disney animated characters, Disney children shows, co-playing with babies at bounce houses and splashpads, dressing in junior fashions and trying to impress their high school aged kids’ friends. St George, where women try showing adults how they co-play with kids instead of showing their kids how they as adults interact with other adults.

    • Joanna August 13, 2014 at 11:33 am

Hey, how come no one ever invited me to the nursing party?! Could someone please keep me abreast of those in the future? All I ever get invited to is wine tastings, spa days, and golf outings.

MY WIFE IS GOING TO LOVE IT!

  • Real Life August 11, 2014 at 10:37 pm

Women are second class citizens in Utah. That is a FACT. Blame it on the culture, blame it on the high birth rate, blame it on the highest disparity of wages AND education in the nation. Whatever you want to blame it on, go ahead. Just don’t pretend that it’s not true.

  • Here and now August 12, 2014 at 2:19 am

I agree with Gracie can’t you have something for plea sly plump homely girls like jogging suit and paper bag.
Back in the kitchen you can teach child bearing, pill aday to keep the kitchen away. And birth control.
St.george is right. We don’t want mans that will raise and teach their children some thing and work on their relationship. They want women like them selves and their mothers who had failed at being a good parent and now have raised children to be society problem, same on the good women who want to do what’s right.
St. George women it’s true, you do dress and look great I have been to most of this country and what we find are women who dress and act like they want to be on the show cops getting hand cuffed..it fine the live in a bubble and keep your children from worldly events unless you want to be like this blogger who watches news all the time and is so depressed she only has time to complain( her kids will be molested) figuring the percentage given by tumor and spinet. It nice to have mothers willing to go to splash pad have fun with their children and to visit. instead of the opposite no having fun going to the jail to visit. And winning the award worst mother of the year award. And show the kids the way the adults act between each other may not be a goof idea either. I don’t think the children of the blogger named st. George women should be telling how she got pregnant in the back of the school bus by Willkie on a two minute rid. And that she would have had and abortion if the right vet would have been in town instead of checking her mother privets( she a general labor). As she tells the children that adult around the world want to rape and kill you. are sale you off in drug slaves, sex slaves or mom as best free sex for drugs, alcohol, are something to eat just lay me down keep me off my feetor adults just wanta pop a cap in your ass. Na the real women of st. George is doing it just right. Continue the good work of mother hood, keep your self clean and pretty as God intended you to be. You are special you are daughters of God, may you and your children stay away from the influence of the daughters of the devil. The weak won’t to know the truth but know not where to find it. The answer learn from the happy and successful women of st. George if you want to make less of yourselves that travel the the places in Vegas that have seminars about only adult things then go out and spread your self amongst the world then return and reort who that worked out for you. We can then take your children and move them to loving caring family who can guide them back to the kingdom of God to live a happy and successful line.may God bless you all.

Interesting statistics for women in Utah is one of the highest rate of violence against women exist in your state. High rate of anti-depressant use. Obvious trend of breast augmentation. That’s what you teach your kids, accept the abuse and be phony.

  • H. Teller Watson PhD August 12, 2014 at 9:17 am

From the journal of Marinngton, Whelhiler! And Stofiyfierl. Page 937 Vol.13 the study raised the question on facts and figure of the populous when. Asked certain questions. For a 12 year study it was found the the western United States especially Utah, Idaho with certain parts of Nevada and Arizona answered all survey question more honestly than any other location in the US. And around the world. They were also less likely to only tell have truths. And most likely to be completely honest in the questioning. It was deemed at that point most statistics are misleading do to the ability of the area where questions are asked do to the ability of the people who dishonest and more likely to lie. An internment was set and re question asked and found the honest states were actually measured the lowest percentage of negative questions. Therefore achieving the highest percentage of positive question. Raising their standard of living much higher that those other states. The Southern states ranked second best. The the Midwest third. Most coastal areas leashed the lowest. The test was closed and and finalized with the rating for Utah 83 per positive. The next closest rating was 71 per Idaho. The last line of the journal states. If society wants to continue for the next 100 years with out total destruction they the inhabitants of the world and these United States must follow the attributes by those of the Rocky Mountain Region, especially Utah. We acknowledge why the high number of move ins in to that region for safer and happier family existence …

    • Pharms August 12, 2014 at 12:58 pm

Explain why Utah has the worst scammers in the United States and why those scammers use their positions of trust to scam people? Utah most honest? Maybe programmed to talk the talk but definitely not walk the walk. Odd, too, the roles of women in Utah are defined and prescribed by men, again those men in position. The divorce rate in Utah is no better than any other state, worse than many states. More women probably would seek divorces from abusive & controlling relationships, but with just high school education, no job skills except low wage beauty salon jobs and the fact that very few guys are interested in women with a hoard of kids to feed, plus a churchhood that will shame the women for divorcing, well, those women will accept their predefined and prescribed roles of barefooted cooking in the kitchen and serving their men, doing what they are told and coplaying with their kids and trying to impress their kids’ friends in their pretend world of Pleasantville. Whatever makes you happy.

    • ST GEORGE WOMEN August 12, 2014 at 5:50 pm

Utah, highest dependency on prescription drugs, to include anti-depressants. With that anti-depressant use comes the highest rate of suicides. Highest rate of rape in the country. Obviously you aren’t raising the boys right or just raising them to be abusive control freaks. Be submissive. Do what you’re told. Don’t get any education past high school, because your male dominated culture tells you to start having babies, as fast and as many as possible. Be provincial. Be uninteresting. Show your pre-teens and high school age children how childish you act. When you get divorced, you and your bunch of kids will be desperate for someone to pay the bills. But don’t get divorced. You’ll never make it on your high school education and your hair salon job experience. Stay with the control freak and do as he tells you. Enjoy. Anti-depressants will ensure your happiness.

  • Monna August 13, 2014 at 9:15 am

The last two to have comments a the biggest hypocrites ever written. As you can tell both are divorced, both have been abused bothe have drug and or alcohol problems, both have been molested, both are abusive especially to women who work is beauty salons therefore you know the writers are un attractive and are abusive to those who are attractive, they were bullied in school and have now become emotionally unstable, both have no self esteem which cause irrational rants, both have been caught in adultery or immoral sins therefore blaming any church and bad mouth their congregation. Both of them have become negative in their thinking and that leads to living a negative life and raising (hopefully not ) negative thinking children and their whole existence becomes a cancer, a boil, a hemroid, a pimple, an infection, to society, a yeast inFection to life’s crotch of man kind.bTherefore the only douche that will remove such filth and stench front polluting the earthly inhabatints in the cleansing power of vinegar yes vinegar, 1 cup to 1 cup of water inserted a sloshed around until the burning stops. Help douche the two douche bags clean and spotless or the smell with continue they have spread

    • STGW August 13, 2014 at 3:03 pm

Wow! You’re either a psychic or a psycho. Your local man been steppin out on you with some horse, dog or minor? R U a member of that church founded by the incestuous child molester and thief who people call a prophet? Did he have a thing for horses and dogs just like some of these later day sinners?

    • Koolaid August 14, 2014 at 5:58 pm

Quit raising your boys to be such abusive control freak men and letting them get away with it. Utah ranks highest in the nation for abuse against women. Utah women need to quit acting like a herd of cattle and act like a adults, not some full time breeder and nanny. Go enjoy your women milk & cookie, religious koolaid, nurse babies event.

  • Seriously. August 14, 2014 at 3:00 pm

It is very sad to see that people are being so incredibly mean and judgmental over an event that many women will enjoy. There are much worse issues in our world and your rude remarks on the internet do absolutely nothing but satisfy your hateful feelings and make you look terrible.
If this event does not seem fun to you, don’t attend. It’s that simple.

    • Koolaid August 15, 2014 at 4:21 pm

It’s just a joke that the perception of local women is one of simple mindedness, and these events further that perception.

  • Genuinity is Beauty September 2, 2014 at 2:50 pm

Narcissism is the plague of the modern age. It’s a tough world for people that want to be real, because there is always a narcissist to put down or misuse the good hearted and the meek. Both the house wife that parades their family on Facebook or the feminist that takes it too far can be just as narcissistic.
