ST. GEORGE – Around 5 p.m. Thursday, St. George police responded to a report of an accident at 600 W. Dixie Drive in St. George. Initial emergency calls relayed to the St. George Communications Center stated the vehicle had hit the median and the driver was injured.
When emergency crews arrived they found a white Audi passenger car that had been traveling southbound on Dixie Drive. The vehicle had collided with the median and jumped over the traffic divider into northbound traffic.
“The driver either blacked out or fell asleep,” St. George Police officer Dave McDaniel said. “Luckily, no one was injured, and no one was transported.”
The accident shut down traffic in the outside lane of northbound Dixie Drive for about 15 minutes. St. George police officers were able to slowly move traffic through using the inside lane.
Officers cited the driver of the Audi. The vehicle was towed off scene, and traffic was able to resume its normal flow.
