Washington County re-elects Belnap, Vickers; Primary Election results

WASHINGTON COUNTY Republicans voted to retain incumbent County Attorney Brock Belnap by a 10.5 percent lead over challenger Nathan Caplin in Tuesday’s Primary Election. Belnap will proceed through the November General Election uncontested and serve for another four-year term. Voters also overwhelmingly voted in Washington, Iron and Beaver counties to re-elect Sen. Evan Vickers over challenger Casey Anderson to senate District seat 28. Vickers will proceed through November’s election uncontested and serve for another four years.

Preliminary results reported do not include provisional ballots and are subject to canvass and certification by the clerks of the reporting county precincts. As qualified, the results for Washington County Attorney, Senate District 28 and School Board 5 are:

Washington County Attorney

  • Brock Belnap – 6,142 votes | 55.24 percent
  • Nathan Caplin – 4,976 votes | 44.76 percent

Senate District 28

Election by voters from Iron, Washington and Beaver counties

  • Casey Anderson
    • Iron County votes 948 | 25.51 percent  | Washington County votes 1,406 | 47.48 percent | Beaver County votes – unspecified but included in total
    • Total votes registered, according to the Lt. Governor’s Office Election Results posting 243 out of 243 precincts reporting: 7,629 votes
  • Evan Vickers
    • 2,768 | 74.49 percent of the vote | Washington County votes 1,555 | 52.52 percent | Beaver County votes – unspecified but included in total
    • Total votes registered, according to the Lt. Governor’s Office Election Results posting 243 out of 243 precincts reporting: 15,576 votes

Local School Board 5 race, Washington County

  • Eileen McKell – 401 votes, 24.19 percent
  • David B. Stirland – 930 votes, 56.09 percent
  • David S. Eves – 327 votes, 19.72 percent
