WASHINGTON CITY – Washington City police arrested two men Saturday as they were attempting to burglarize a residential home near the Washington City Community Center.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Washington City Police Officer Tyson Dove in connection with the arrest, while responding to a report of a suspicious person in the neighborhood, Dove located a man identified as Rene Jr. Pintor, 21, of St. George.
Dove also located an unlocked home. Upon clearing the residence, Dove located a man identified as Tod Rodney Luck, 43, of Hurricane, inside the home, who was not the owner and didn’t have permission to be inside the home.
“Tod admitted to going into the residence in an attempt to find drugs and/or old magazines,” Dove said in the statement.
Upon completing an inventory of Luck’s vehicle, a glass pipe with a white and brown residue were located, along with several syringes, a metal spoon, and cotton Q-tips – all of which are frequently used in the use of methamphetamine, Dove said.
“During the investigation both parties admitted to coming to the area together in Tod’s vehicle,” Dove said. “It was found that Rene knew Tod was in the residence and appeared to be acting as a lookout by giving him audible signals when police were in the area.”
Luck’s drug-related charges were enhanced for being in a drug-free zone – the location of his arrest was within 1,000 feet of the Washington City Community Center and a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting building.
Luck was arrested and charged with two second-degree felonies for burglary and drug possession, and one class A-misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility. According to booking information, Luck’s bail stands at $21,943.
Pintor was arrested and charged with one second-degree felony for burglary. He was booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility. According to booking information, Pintor’s bail stands at $10,000.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Please tell me where in Washington County someone can get caught over 1,00 Ft from a Mormon church please, or two for that matter.
Wow, you are a biggoted troll.
Drug free zones are defined by statute to include schools, pre-schools, churches, parks, shopping malls, stadiums, theaters, movie theaters, parking lots, libraries, and an area extending 1000 feet from the structures or grounds of those facilities. In many urban and suburban areas, drug free zones cover a larger area than many people realize.
The distance of 1000 feet is longer than three full football fields. And that distance is measured not by the path a person would have to take in order to get to one of the listed places (school, park, etc.) Rather, the distance is measured in a straight line.
The more densely populated the area where you are, the more likely it is that you may accidentally find yourself in a drug free zone. The Wasatch Front contains large unbroken areas that qualify as drug free zones simply because the schools, parks, churches, etc. are so closely packed. Other areas in the state with lower density populations will be more likely to have areas that are not considered drug free zones.
We’re seriously going to get more upset about there being Mormon churches everywhere than two dangerous and possibly deadly criminals breaking into someone’s house? Priorities people, seriously lol…

Can we just assume that anyone with face tattoos is up to no good and should probably be automatically arrested? What wonderful choices this young man has made with his carefully planned spider web on his cheek, and what I can only assume is an earthworm over his eye. Wonderful, wonderful choices.
I think you are on to something there Joanna. Once you get a face tattoo, it’s pretty much over.
I’ve seen several people with face tattoos that are good people and not criminals. Some might assume that you are an extremely judgmental psycho who mistreats others because of life choices… could be true, but I imagine there is much more to you as a human being than what you just said or the way you acted. 🙂
Bender is a big proponent of face and neck tattoos. It’s a truth in labeling thing… allows ready and sure identification of current and future felons at a glance.
.
Now if we could get the BizOp coaching criminals populating St. George call centers to somehow mark themselves. Maybe ear tags like cattle wear?
Does that include those vain women who tattoo their face.
Great job by the police.
I guess his “Luck” ran out…
If it wasn’t for “Luck” being his last name…..he wouldn’t have any Luck at all. 😉
I agree, and when you throw Jo Jo the idiot boy in as your lookout, the plan was doomed from the start.
