Update: ‘Hitler’ captured after attempted murder at Rainbow Family gathering

UPDATED 9:52 p.m.

ST. GEORGE – The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday night that Lelilani M. Novak-Garcia, also known as “Hitler,” has been apprehended and incarcerated.

Police had been searching for the 32-year-old woman since Monday morning. Novak-Garcia was wanted for attempted murder at the Rainbow Family gathering located east of Heber City early Monday morning.

Novak-Garcia, who also goes by “Hitler,” of Las Cruces, New Mexico, is accused of stabbing a 45-year-old Salt Lake City man multiple times just before 1 a.m., Wasatch County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jared Rigby said in a statement. Novak-Garcia ran before officers arrived and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Uinta National Forest Rangers told investigators they heard someone shout, “I’ll kill you,” just before they found the man bleeding from knife wounds, according to the Heber City Police Facebook page.

Wasatch County EMS transported the victim to the University of Utah Medical Center in serious condition, Rigby said.

Rainbow Family Gathering

The controversial and diverse group known as the Rainbow Family of Living Light is currently holding its annual Rainbow Gathering – which reportedly draws 20,000 participants from across the country – on the Uinta National Forest east of Heber City with some participants planning to linger in the area until August, Heber City officials said.

According to websites associated with the group, the stated purpose of the Gathering is to allow like-minded members of utopian, bohemian, hipster and hippie cultures to meet together to further their ideals.

“While many members of the Rainbow Family are upstanding citizens, a small segment of their population have reportedly caused significant and detrimental impacts on nearby communities,” according to the Heber City Facebook page. “For instance, reports of previous Rainbow Gatherings show some past attendees engaged in criminal activity, including aggressive panhandling at stores and gas stations, trespassing, shoplifting, public urination, and nudity/lewdness. In addition, these reports show some attendees have left local emergency room and hospital facilities with unpaid medical services totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars before leaving the area a month or so later.”

When I read the title “Hitler Found”, I just figured one of the Gestapo, a.k.a. Quorum of Twelve, got lost and found after their big vote to get rid of a woman who had the audacity to speak her mind.

Really? Comparing Hitler to the quorum of the 12? Your a special kind of stupid!

      • Jen Lindley June 24, 2014 at 11:49 am

When you consider the fact that your beloved “church” just excommunicated a woman for speaking her mind by arguing that women should be able to hold the priesthood too, I’d say Real Life is right. As for the Hitler vs Quorum of Twelve comment, google the name Sophie Scholl. She and her friends were murdered (excommunicated) by the Nazis (Quorum of Twelve) for distributing anti nazi leaflets (speaking her mind, “apostasy”) in 1942.

What he said was profound. It actually make sense to normal people.

      Luv it!

The Quorum of the twelve didn’t kick her out. They had nothing to do with it. It was her Bishop who knew her personally. I am sure he gave her plenty of discussion and that she made her choice. She would have left the Church anyway and you are all playing into her propaganda/victim publicity; and she is becoming the celebrity she set out to become. Because the bishop is bound to confidentiality, we will never know the details of his interaction with her, only her side of the story, because she can say anything she wants and the bishop is unable to dispute it. Organized religion does not and should not be under the same rules as the government. The LDS are governed by Jesus Christ, not the people. Each individual has the right to join and be part of us, or not. No rights are being denied. She has every right to join or start her own church where women are given “the Priesthood of Kate.” It is a beautiful right that I hope will never be denied ANYONE in our country.

Are you really comparing Hitler to the quorum of the 12? Your a special kind of stupid!

    • Jen Lindley June 24, 2014 at 11:54 am

did you really need to make the same comment twice? Seriously…

  • LOL'd June 24, 2014 at 12:42 am

    who here remembers old Adolf?

  • SSfreeze June 24, 2014 at 4:26 am

How many women are in the quorum?????
I bet if they took away church’s tax exempt status until they treated everyone equally (women, homosexuals, minorities) all churches would have an epiphany and would see the light.

    • Emperor Justinian June 24, 2014 at 2:32 pm

And I bet that if they killed everyone who didn’t believe in the leftist agenda, everyone would believe in the leftist agenda.

Believe it or not, tax-exempt status isn’t just for people who agree with you.

  • tight magic undies June 24, 2014 at 9:13 am

Quorum of inequality. What a joke!

  • EL JEFE June 24, 2014 at 9:32 am

Jeff Dunhams Achmed also screams “I keel you”…..but he’s a “former” Islamic terrorist suicide bomber. No longer wanted by the authorities.

  • JOSH DALTON June 24, 2014 at 10:57 am

Must have ran out of pot.

  • EL JEFE June 24, 2014 at 1:58 pm

By the way…..I find the term “Rainbow Family” offensive.
I’ll have to loosen up my “tight magic undies”…..hehehe…

  • Tom June 24, 2014 at 7:26 pm

I find that the comparison of Hitler and The Quorum of the Twelve quite humerous……The truth hurts to some people though.

You can choose to obey the rules of an establishment, or, you can leave. Why is this so very difficult for you kids to understand? If she doesn’t believe, and is fighting against, the basic principles of the church, she will rightly be excommunicated. She is waging open war on the very God she “believes” in and His laws. She is trying to lead people away from the truths of a church she so desperately wants to be a part of. Leave it to the grown-ups to do the talking, please, girly. I am baffled SHE had the audacity to be baffled at the consequences of her actions. Oh oh and ummm, what is the difference between the LDS community and the Nazis? The Nazis used violent physical force. Beforehand they used propaganda to attack (among other groups, but mainly) a religious group to get their way. Hmmmm, sound familiar? MUCH. Furthermore, ladies and gentlemen, if the priesthood, IF to you, is a joke, a made up fantasy like leprechaun and fairy stuff, then why would you care in the first place? Why would you care for her and her situation??? Shouldn’t she be winning at this point, to you, to be rid of her membership of such a fantasyland? If you do believe in the priesthood then you should know that any title given without proper authority and sanctity by the Godhead, is null and void. And guess what, girly, guess what? Joseph Smith didn’t like any of the churches he was presented with either…so go work on that.

    • Jen Lindley June 24, 2014 at 11:00 pm

Well I for one am glad that she is out of the cult. I’m upset that she was kicked out, not because she actually did anything wrong but because she dared to question her church leadership and ask for the same privileges as her male counterparts.. Let me restate that, she was kicked out because she dared to question her church leadership. My what a terrible crime that is. 🙂

    • Incognegro June 25, 2014 at 7:51 pm

It’s official. You and I could actually form Voltron! Either that or you are my new crush. Thank you! I could not have ruined lives as well as you did. My comments are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors and it’s hard to get my point across.

  • Real Life June 24, 2014 at 10:38 pm

Raebo. Thank you for proving my point. Ignorance is bliss.

  • lent hoover June 25, 2014 at 5:25 pm

She looks more like a member of the Manson family to me, that is one ugly hippy.

  • EL JEFE June 26, 2014 at 9:40 am

Looks like a stoner dude with dreds….

  • RaeBo June 26, 2014 at 4:13 pm
