SALT LAKE CITY – A 12-year-old girl who went missing in South Salt Lake over the weekend has been found.
Stevie Rae Shane was originally reported missing after she left a youth services group home Friday night. She was found Monday after Stevie called her grandmother from a home in the Millcreek area asking for a ride around 3 a.m. The grandmother retrieved Stevie and took her back to the youth home. She was originally classified as endangered by police due to her age.
According to Good4Utah.com, Stevie reportedly told friends she was planning to go to Las Vegas with an unnamed 14-year-old friend and a man named Brandon.
The unnamed 14-year-old girl, who was with Stevie when her grandmother picked her up Monday, was taken to the youth services group home as well. She also appeared unharmed.
Police plan to interview the girls Monday morning.
Stevie has a history of running away and frequents the Cottonwood Heights and West Valley City areas, police said. One such reported incident was in May 2014, according to Fox 13 News in Salt Lake City.
