ST. GEORGE — GT Industries brings its first supercar autocross racing experience to the Ridge Top Complex at 317 S. Donlee Drive in St. George, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, just in time for Father’s Day weekend.
Bobby and Stacey Sato, owners of GT Industries, set up the old airport runway with small orange cones to replicate a fast-paced autocross course allowing anyone, 21 and older, with a valid driver’s license and full-coverage auto insurance, the chance to sit behind the wheel of a 2012 Nissan GT-R and experience supercar speed.
Participants will receive a safety briefing and then each driver is allowed one slow lap, to get familiar with course, and three fast or hot laps, where they can push it to the limits. The actual driving time will be between three to five minutes depending on the driver’s style.

“I’ll probably be pushing people to go faster rather than slower,” Bobby Sato said.
The Nissan GT-R is equipped with 530 horse power, 3.8 liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, zips from zero to 60 in 2.8 seconds and tops out at 195 miles per hour.
“The engine was hand-built in Japan,” Bobby Sato said. “Only four people know how to build these,” he said of the master craftsmen known as Takumi who build the GT-R engines – one craftsman per engine.
“The GT-R is a legend in Japan that began in the 1960s,” he said. “They call it Godzilla because it takes down giants like Ferraris and Lamborghinis.”
This experience is not only for drivers however, anyone younger than 21 may ride along with one of the professional instructors as long as they are not restricted to riding in a car seat.
GT Industries grew from a love of cars by owners Bobby and Stacey Sato and they plan to offer this event biannually in St. George and Salt Lake City. In the future, they hope to expand to other locations and eventually purchase more cars and offer 30-60-mile test drives.
“Once we get rolling, we really need a designated race track in St. George,” Bobby Sato said. “This would give kids a place to race off the streets and get it out of their system. Our company goal is to provide anybody a racing experience, road rally — whatever people want to do — we will make it work.”
Give your father the experience of a lifetime this weekend by letting him zoom through the course and show off his skills.
The cost for the supercar experience Father’s Day weekend is $149.95 plus tax per participant which comes with a disk of photos for memorabilia. T-shirts will be available for $20 and individual videos for $34.95.
This event is sponsored by DUB’s BBQ, located at 1812 West Sunset Blvd. Suite 10.
