IRON COUNTY — A one-car rollover that occurred on Interstate 15 Tuesday evening, near milepost 51 and the Kanarraville exit, resulted in a fatality. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Tamara Gross, 49, of Mesquite, Nevada.
For an unknown reason, Gross allowed her vehicle to drift toward the median, according to a press release from the Utah Highway Patrol. She then corrected back to the right and her vehicle began to slide. She overcorrected back to the left and the vehicle went out of control, sliding into the median and starting to roll. The vehicle rolled approximately two times and came to a rest on its side. Though Gross was wearing a seat belt, she sustained fatal head trauma.
Right after the accident initial reports from the Utah Highway Patrol indicated that the person involved in the accident was in “very critical condition.”
The accident which occurred around 5 p.m., caused traffic delays, and shut down the right northbound lane for a time.
Initial reports indicate that there was only one vehicle involved and only one occupant in the vehicle, Royce said. A medical helicopter was called and medical personnel were seen giving CPR on scene to the victim.
