ST. GEORGE – One person was sent to the hospital Saturday morning after a rear-end collision on 3050 East left two vehicles inoperable.

Around 10:45 a.m., at the intersection of 850 North and 3050 East, a northbound white Buick sedan was stopped at a red light when it was hit from behind by a pickup truck.

“We have multiple witnesses who saw this happen,” St. George Police Sgt. David McDaniel said. “The truck didn’t even slow down and ran full bore into the back of him.”

The rear of the white Buick was obliterated from the impact, while the truck somehow veered off the road to the right, running through a fence.

The truck driver was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. McDaniel said he did not know what condition the driver was in when he was transported.

The investigation is ongoing and any possible citations may be issued pending the outcome.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.
