CEDAR CITY – Saturday morning, the Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts, who call themselves SNORE, will host the Cedar City Grand Prix at the Three Peaks Recreation Area.
The event includes a 250-mile course featuring various classes.
“Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts is a family of off-road desert racers helping to promote desert racing in and around the Las Vegas, Nevada, area,” said a press release from the Cedar City • Brian Head Tourism Bureau. “From stock Volkswagen beetles to buggies, pickup trucks and even high-end unlimited vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, SNORE has a spot for anyone to race with us.”
Spectators are welcome and there is no charge for spectator areas.
“SNORE is expecting a large spectator turnout, and we have designated two spectator areas to keep the event as safe as possible,” Vince Bishop, media and volunteer coordinator for SNORE, said. “Spectators should utilize the designated areas and not go to secret spots that they may know about to watch the race.”
Spectators can park at the Three Peaks Recreation Area mountain bike trailhead – just off Midvalley Road – and walk to the ATV staging area to watch the race.
“SNORE events typically bring about 1,000 to 2,000 spectators to their races, with the average visitor spending about $131 per day,” Maria Twitchell, of the Cedar City • Brian Head Tourism Bureau, said. “Cedar City should see a very positive impact from this race.”
