SPANISH FORK — Stansbury will take home the state 3A softball trophy, but Canyon View will take home a measure of pride after staving off elimination four times in two days.
The Stallions are now the two-time state champs after beating Uintah 8-3. Meanwhile, Canyon View rebounded from an opening loss Thursday to play all the way to championship Saturday. CV lost to Uintah 7-1 in a winner’s bracket game Thyursday morning. The Falcons turned around and beat Carbon 7-0 to finish play Thursday.
Friday, Canyon View won three games, eliminating Tooele (5-4), Grantsville (13-9) and Juab (4-3). But Saturday’s rematch with Uintah ended in an 8-5 victory for the Utes, ending CV’s season with a 22-6 record. Josie Platt homered in the loss.
