Bank robbery suspect arrested at bus stop in St. George

ST. GEORGE – Yesterday evening the St. George Police intercepted a suspect in a bank robbery that occurred in Ogden yesterday afternoon. The suspect was on a Greyhound bus from Ogden to Las Vegas, and was identified and taken into custody at the Greyhound bus stop in St. George.

Around 11:15 p.m., Tuesday, St. George Police detectives and officers arrested Chris Peek after identifying him at the Greyhound bus stop at 1235 South Bluff Street.

After a bank robbery occurred Tuesday around 4 p.m. in Ogden, investigators from Ogden had information that the suspect may be on a Greyhound bus bound for Las Vegas. St. George investigators were asked to check the bus. Investigators were provided with photographs of the suspect and responded to the Greyhound bus stop and were quickly able to identify the suspect,  according to a statement from the St. George Police Department.

Peek was taken in to custody without incident, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said. He didn’t have any weapons and didn’t put up a fight. He was in possession of money which is believed to be money from the Ogden bank robbery.

Peek was booked into the Washington County Jail for receiving stolen property with a $50,000 cash only bail.  St. George Police detectives are working closely with Ogden City Police detectives regarding the bank robbery. That investigation is ongoing.

Prosecuting attorneys will get together and discuss Peek’s charges, Despain said. “Chances are he’ll be taken back to Ogden eventually,” he said.
