Outdoor adventure abounds at Amazing Earthfest

KANE COUNTY – From May 11-17, Kane County plays host once again to Amazing Earthfest, a weeklong festival celebrating life on the Colorado Plateau. Amazing Earthfest activities will include outdoor adventure, art, music, science, historical and cultural events and exhibits in and around scenic Kanab.

Amazing Earthfest events are free and appropriate for the entire family. More than 50 activities have been planned, including Native American cultural events, archeology field trips, live music, guided hikes, bicycle and ATV rides, astronomy events, documentary film screenings and more.

The Amazing Earthfest opens Sunday with a road bike race taking place from 7:45 a.m. until noon. Sunday’s events will also feature a hike at Paria-Hackberry Canyon, a Native American net and rope making demonstration at Pipe Spring National Monument, plein air painting demonstrations, three film screenings and the “Invocation to Sustainability,” which serves as the official opening event of Earthfest and features a performance by Native American musician Arvel Bird and an invocation and keynote address by Utah Interfaith Power and Light’s Jeffrey Louden.

Amazing Earthfest continues throughout the week with a host of activities for the entire family, and the festival will conclude on the evening of Saturday, May 17, with a concert by Symphony of the Canyons.
