Credit Union offers free workshops for homebuyers

SOUTHERN UTAH – Interested homebuyers will have the opportunity to secure free, expert advice about how to qualify for a home purchase at workshops being offered by SouthWest Community Credit Unions this week, one in Cedar City and one in St. George.

Everything from income requirements to home repairs, down payments, closing costs, insurance, and ways to add value to a home will be discussed.

A variety of professionals – from lenders, to real estate agents, title company representatives and credit-repair organizations – will offer tips about the current housing market, and help prospective buyers determine their financial readiness to buy, furnish, or care for a home.

The workshops will be held at SouthWest Community Credit Union Branch Offices Wednesday and Thursday:

  • May 7 | 444 South Main, Ste. B-2, Cedar City
  • May 8 | 333 East Tabernacle, St. George

Those interested in signing up to attend one of these workshops should call 855-668-0055 or visit one of the branches listed above.

“Owning that first home is often filled with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. We want to replace worry with helpful information that place interested home buyers on a clear path to ownership” the company’s regional president Skip Wilson said.

In addition to hosting these educational seminars, HeritageWest and SouthWest Community Credit Unions are also offering 100 percent financing for first-time home buyers and hometown heroes, those in service industries, with no private mortgage insurance, low fees and closing costs, little or no down payment, generous loan amounts, and seller contributions towards the closing costs. These fixed loans are for 30 years.

I sure wish they could help me get a home of my own. Lucky they that have a home of their own.
