A transformer burst into flames after being hit by a semitrailer, Washington, Utah May 4, 2014 | St. George News
WASHINGTON CITY — Washington City Fire Department units were dispatched to the area of 875 West Red Cliffs Drive in Washington after a semitrailer hit a transformer causing the transformer and nearby bushes to erupt into flames Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., a transformer near the Albertson’s parking lot was hit by a semitrailer, Washington City Fire Captain Brandon Moore said. “By doing so, it made the power start arcing which then the oil inside the transformer started leaking across and we had fire across the street,” Moore said, “then all these bushes started in flames.”
Firefighters had the flames put out moments after arriving at the scene, Moore said. No injuries were reported.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters were waiting on scene to make sure they could protect the structure until the power department could come and get the power shut off, Moore said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Where is Port of Subs?
The old Port-o-Subs is being turned into a teriyaki Grill.
I bet there is a truck driver looking for a new job this morning!
Shouldn’t something THAT dangerous be protected with a shut off switch and casing? People could have been killed, including the driver.
