ST. GEORGE — Two vehicles were towed after a three-car collision that occurred in front of Dixie High School shut down traffic on 700 South for about a half hour on Friday evening.
At about 6:40 p.m., a 42-year-old female, driving a white Mitsubishi pickup truck, looked down while driving between 400 East and 300 East along 700 South, St. George Police Sgt. Albert Gilman said, she then slammed into the back of a black Lincoln SUV. The impact of the collision pushed the SUV into the back of a bronze Infiniti SUV.
The driver of the white truck suffered a minor injury to her leg but was able to walk under her own power. There were no other injuries.
St. George Police, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance all responded to the scene of the accident. The fire department used sand to clean fluids that spilled from the truck upon impact with the Lincoln.
Both the Mitsubishi truck and Lincoln SUV were towed away after the accident, while the Infiniti was still functional.
The woman driving the Mitsubishi was issued a citation for following too closely.
Another three-car accident occurred at the intersection of 100 South and Bluff Street at about 5:30 p.m. There were no injuries in that accident, and no clean-up was needed.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

I wonder what was she was looking down at? Could it have been A CELL PHONE? ‘Cause that NEVER happens here. 🙂
That’s a lot of damage for a pickup truck on a street with a 30 mph speed limit…hmm.
I don’t see an inordinate amount of damage for an accident that speed. Realize, she hit someone while going faster than they were. That hood is designed to do exactly what it did, and the bumper folded under, also a design element. The fact that the side panels are not damaged, headlight intact, is a strong statement for this vehicle. You can’t penetrate a windshield if it’s covered…..
