(January 11, 1940 – April 13, 2014)
John Herbert Gledhill, 74, passed away at home April 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born January 11, 1940 to Millan Francis and Leone Peterson Gledhill in Richfield, Utah. He married Gloria Kay Gibson Nov. 11 1967. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George temple, Sept. 28, 2000.
John grew up in Richfield and played sports throughout high school. He served honorably in the Utah National Guard. When he married Gloria they moved to Las Vegas where he was in the service station business, also doing real estate on the side.
Because of his love for the great outdoors, they purchased Big Rock Candy Mountain, Utah Resort in 1974. They owned and operated Big Rock for 20 years. Their children grew up around fishing and hunting, and John called it paradise.
In 1994 they moved back to Washington, Utah to be closer to Gloria’s family. John began real estate with Wardley GMAC and then Coldwell Banker Premier. Real Estate was his true passion which he enjoyed up until his passing.
John was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel.
He will be dearly missed by his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his beautiful devoted wife of 46 years, Gloria, his 5 amazing children, Chance (Niki) Gledhill, Beau (Karena) Gledhill, Kelli (Robert) Foster, Sunny (Joseph) Langford, Gloriana (Casey) Stucki, Sister LeAnn (Roger) Williams, and 12 beautiful grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Mac.
Funeral Services
- Funeral services will be held on April 17, 2014 at the LDS Stake Center located at 860 North Fairway Drive in Washington, Utah. Funeral services to begin at 11 a.m. with a viewing prior to services from 9:30-10:45 am.
- There will also be a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at Heideman Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 South, St. George, Utah 84790.
