Barnum, Phyllis obit(March 11, 1929 – April 10, 2014)

Phyllis Jean Moore Barnum, 85, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 10, 2014.  She was born March 11, 1929, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to David William and Johanna (Peterson) Moore.  Phyllis graduated from Spanish Fork High School.  She served an LDS mission in the Texas/Louisiana Mission.   She married Andrew Hales Barnum, August 18, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Phyllis grew up the youngest of 10 children in Spanish Fork, Utah.  She was a stay-at-home mom devoting most of her time to her family, but at different times she also had jobs as a seamstress, preschool teacher’s aide, and an office worker at the St. George Temple.  She was an excellent cook, she loved reading, and spending time with family, especially playing games with her children and grandchildren.  Phyllis was an active member in the LDS church and served in many capacities.

She is survived by her husband Andrew H Barnum of St. George, and her four daughters, Cynthia K (Wesley) Lang Hurricane, LaRae (Kent) McGregor St George, Jolene (Robert) Jolley Washington, and Annette Barnum St George.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents and all 9 of her siblings.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the 700 South LDS chapel in St. George.
  • A viewing will be held at 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, UT, and before funeral services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
  • Internment will take place in the St. George City Cemetery.
