ST. GEORGE – Two passenger cars collided at the intersection of State Route 18/Bluff Street and Snow  Canyon Parkway/Red Hills Parkway around 8:30 p.m. Monday when the southbound driver made a left-hand turn failing to yield to the oncoming northbound car.

The southbound car was a silver passenger car driven by a 17-year-old with three passengers in his car, one 19-year-old boy and two teenaged girls, St. George Police Sgt. Rich Triplett said.

The northbound car was a white passenger car drive by a woman with her 13-year-old son in the car.

The teen failed to yield to the woman heading northbound as he initiated his left turn onto Red Hills Parkway on a flashing yellow light, Triplett said, and the two collided.

There were no transports, Triplett said, but the mother did self-transport herself and her son to Dixie Regional Medical Center to get checked out for reported minor soreness, bumps and bruises.

The teen was cited for failure to yield and for not having ever obtained a driver’s license.

This report is based on information provided by authorities and emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Is that a flashing yellow arrow or a flashing standard round light? anyone know?

    • My Evil Twin April 8, 2014 at 11:00 am

It is a flashing arrow there, Bub.

    • Rachel April 8, 2014 at 11:22 am

      Its a flashing yellow arrow.

Yep those flashing arrows really are confusing at times…

The teen was going north on 18. The woman with the son failed to wait for the teen before turning left on to red hills parkway. I’m so grateful nobody was killed.

Your account of the story directly contradicts the story that’s on here. How did you come by your info?

  • My Evil Twin April 8, 2014 at 11:02 am

    Another case of blatant stupidity!

    • merp April 16, 2014 at 9:15 pm

blatant stupidity? It was the mom that failed to yeild. Not the teen turning left.

  • Easy E April 8, 2014 at 4:08 pm

    My mom witnessed the crash.

  • KanabCowgirl April 8, 2014 at 9:17 pm

    Oh. Ok. That explains it.
