ST. GEORGE – The 13th annual Spring Home & Garden Expo taking place at the Dixie Center Friday and Saturday, offers guests demonstrations and information for products and services for the interior and exterior of the home.
With over 100 vendors participating, the show hosts a variety of products and services. Inside you’ll find everything from landscape rock designs, gorgeous tile outlays, the latest faucet heads for your kitchen sink, hot tubs, and even vibrating pillows.
“We have anything to make the interior and the exterior of the home beautiful,” Rashell Jensen, the expo’s coordinator, said.
“There is so much for everyone to do here,” Jensen said. “We have over 100 vendors participating. We pride ourselves in having a lot of repeat vendors – I’d say we have 90 percent returning vendors.”
This Expo also offers an inspiration for coming up with new ideas for the home, Jensen said.

As a first time visitor to this Expo, Bob Ellis of Hurricane said he likes to see the demonstrations.
“We came out to see what’s new and innovative and to see some of the stuff demonstrated,” Ellis said.
St. George resident Keena Tanner, who has worked for Star Nursery for 23-years, offers tips on how to prep the garden as the winter chill recedes. A self-proclaimed “tree hugger” and a certified arborist, Tanner is certified in pruning and said that she enjoys educating people on proper pruning techniques.
“The key thing to prepping the garden for growing is soil enrichment,” Tanner said. “We have really terrible soil around here it’s really sandy, alkaline, absolutely no nutritional value in it. So That’s the best advice I can ever give somebody is mix a lot of organic matter, mulches, compost into the soil to get it really rejuvenated because if you don’t, your vegetable gardens are going to be really difficult … or your flower beds for that matter.”
For commuting needs from work to home, or for a leisure stroll, Seth Belnap explains the health benefits of Utah Trikes that came from his home town of Payson.
“A lot of people come to us because they have disabilities or their back hurts and they can’t ride a normal bike,” Belnap said. “The trikes are great because you can still exercise. They are recumbent, meaning that you don’t have to balance them and so they are more comfortable for people who may be suffering from back pain or are nervous about tipping over. A lot of people don’t know about them, or see them and think they look weird … and they are weird. We are used to seeing a bike.”
From Utah Trikes from Payson to synthetic grass by EcoGreen, there is no shortage of things to see and learn about at the Expo.
“The synthetic grass is very popular in this area because it’s very low maintenance and you don’t have to water it,” Kristen Eaton said. “Maybe at most, you blow it off once in a while – it’s really easy to clean.”
