HURRICANE – On Monday, a passing motorist found an 81-year-old man pulled off to the side of SR-9, near mile marker 2, sitting unconscious in his vehicle, he was shortly thereafter determined to have passed away.
At a time unspecified, sometime after noon, on March 24, 2014, a passerby, who possessed medical training, saw a vehicle on the side of the road and pulled over to see if the man needed help. The witness discovered that the man was alone and not breathing.
Around this same time, a Hildale ambulance drove past the situation and pulled over as well. At approximately 3:31 p.m., medical was called and an ambulance responded to the man in the vehicle, and confirmed that the he had passed away.
There were no signs of a vehicular accident, Hurricane Public Information Officer, Sgt. Brandon Buell said.
“It appeared he passed away from natural causes,” Buell said.
