UPDATE: At 7:32 p.m. Arizona Highway Patrol reported lanes were clear and moving in both directions.
MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — As of Sunday at 4 p.m., the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 are closed in the Virgin River Gorge because of a crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. I-15 northbound is closed at milepost 13, about 4 miles north of Littlefield, Ariz., with traffic backing up for approximately three miles.
If possible use old Highway 91 immediately as an alternate route.
Southbound I-15 remains open, but has slowed down significantly according to radio dispatches from the St. George Communications Center. The highway will be shut down for an extended period of time. Delays are expected and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
