Four boys who ran from youth center believed to have stolen car

UPDATE: Two of the four boys have been found.

DRAPER — Four male youths ages 18, 17, 16 and 15, ran away from the Genesis Youth Center in Draper after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Utah Department of Human Services. The DHS requests the public’s help in locating these boys.

According to reports given to police, the boys have been seen on Interstate 15 possibly in a 2004 Isuzu Trooper Utility Vehicle that was reported stolen from JCW’s The Burger Boys Restaurant in Lehi. The Isuzu Trooper was stolen around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday close to where the boys were seen leaving the center. The Isuzu Trooper’s license plate number is A207JV.

“Take a look at the photo of the 18-year-old and just keep an eye out for him and others with him and a group of four youths,” Elizabeth Sollis of the Utah Department of Human Services said.  “Community safety is a number one priority, as is the youth’s safety.”

The boys are not considered dangerous but all have committed crimes that, had they been adults, would have been considered misdemeanors or felonies, Sollis said.

A photo of Jesse Hopkins, 18, has been released, but due to confidentiality laws, the names and photos of the other boys, who are juveniles, are not being shared.

The boys were all wearing dark green sweatshirts and basketball shoes; three of them were wearing dark green shorts and one was wearing dark green sweatpants. Three of the boys are Caucasian with dark brown hair; the third boy is Hispanic and has black hair.

Warrants for their arrest were issued by an on-call judge, at 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

The boys have family in Sandy, Draper, Lehi and Vernal and may be making their way to them.

The Utah Department of Human Services requests that anyone who sees boys matching these descriptions should immediately contact law enforcement.
