WASHINGTON CITY – A woman was transported to the hospital in serious condition after her SUV crashed into a cement planter Friday morning.
Around 6:30 a.m., a 51-year-old woman was driving a red SUV eastbound on Telegraph Street just west of Main Street when her SUV swerved and impacted a cement planter by the road, Washington City Police spokesman Ed Kantor said.
The woman experienced broken bones and head trauma and was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George in serious condition.
The cause of the crash is unknown and is currently under investigation, though speed does not appear to have been a factor, Kantor said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

There seems to be quite a few accidents occurring in the county lately.
Would be interested in seeing an article or even a link providing the number of accidents compared to other years. Perhaps it’s only an increase of media reporting ?
Those planter box’s are so annoying. Why in the world did they make those planter boxes so big. They empeed walking of more than one person on the sidewalk and make it very difficult for wheelchairs. I understand wanting to have trees and flowers but those huge boxes were expensive and not necessary.
What is a cement planter?
It was a silver Cherokee.. And those planter boxes must be built by bomb shelter specs. Left some scarring and a few marks but that’s it. while the vehicle was completely smashed. Hope the elderly lady will be alright.
51 is elderly?
Old people don’t know how to text and drive..
She has a name, is someones child, sister, and is a friend to many in the St. George singles scene. Her name is Robin Callahan and she is in our thoughts and prayers as she fights for her live.
That dog gone planter just jumped right out in front of her! I hope she recovers OK, but come on, suppose it had been a mother pushing a baby carriage, rather than a concrete planter!
No need to get rid of planters, they are there…maybe it is a good thing that they are there or maybe she would hit someone. Hope she will be ok but probably not paying attention to her driving
