PROVO — Many gold medals were handed out to Region 9’s top swimmers at the 3A State Swim Meet at BYU this weekend. Photojournalist Shane Marshall was there to capture the compelling action for St. George News and brings us this photo gallery:

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Andy Griffin has been in sports media since 1989 and has covered BYU, Utah State and the Utah Jazz as well as all sports in southern Utah. A journalism graduate of USU, Andy has carried on a dual career as both a sports writer and a sports broadcaster and has been heard around the country. He has also been published in USA Today, Sport magazine, The Sporting News, Fairways magazine, the Los Angeles Times and locally in the Deseret News, the Salt Lake Tribune and the Spectrum. Andy was “The Voice of Region 9 sports,” for many years. He also hosted a daily sports talk show for three years called AG in the a.m. Andy has been married to his college sweetheart Shelly for 28 years and has five children ages 13 to 25.

    About your eighteenth photo, the breaststroker you listed as Bryn Condie is actually Erin Call from Snow Canyon. Great photos!!

    Thank you for the great coverage this year! These kids have often felt like they are forgotten. Regardless of where they place at State it is a major accomplishment to get to State as only the Top 24 times in each even qualify the swimmer to attend. We greatly appreciate the coverage and all of the photos from Shane Marshall.

    Congrats to Region 9 way to represent! Congrats to Dixie Men’s who took 2nd and Congrats to Desert Hills Women’s who took 2nd in State!!
