Mia Love keynotes annual Dixie State Mother-Daughter Weekend, Women’s Conference

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State University will host its 38th Annual Mother-Daughter Weekend and Women’s Conference on Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Gardner Center Ballroom on the DSU campus, featuring a keynote address by Mia Love, former mayor of Saratoga Springs and Republican candidate for Utah’s 4th Congressional District.

The conference event is open to all DSU female students and their mothers, and women throughout the community.

Following a formal welcome by conference host, reigning Miss Dixie 2013-14 Shaelie Knutson, the festivities will get underway with an opening presentation by popular bloggers “The Six Sisters.” Four breakout sessions will follow beginning at 10 a.m., featuring a wide range of presenters. At noon, there will be a light lunch in the DSU Red Rock Café and the annual fashion show sponsored by Dillard’s. Love will close out the conference with her address at 1 p.m. For a complete list of events and speaker bios, please visit the Mother-Daughter Dixie website.

This annual DSU event encourages women to remain beautiful and strong in today’s changing world. Knutson, a senior communications major from Preston, Idaho, won a full tuition scholarship at the Miss Dixie Homecoming Queen pageant last fall and will represent Dixie State and compete at the 2014 Miss Utah Pageant in June for a chance to advance to the 2014 Miss America Pageant.

The cost of the Women’s Conference is $15 paid at the door, with event check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m.
