Man arrested for using another person’s identity for seven years

ST. GEORGE — A St. George man who admitted working for a local employer for approximately seven years while using another persons identity was arrested on Wednesday.

According to the probable cause statement filed in conjunction with the arrest, investigators with the St. George Police fraudulent identity and security threat unit arrested Abraham Deleon, 37, of St. George, and charged him with two counts of third-degree felony possession of a forgery device and one count of identity fraud, a second-degree felony.

Investigators determined that Deleon had used a social security number and permanent resident card that belonged to another actual person to obtain employment and other benefits from a local St. George employer.

Deleon admitted to investigators that he had worked for the employer for approximately seven years earning $18 per hour, working five days per week for eight hours each day, the statement said.

Deleon was booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility and bail was set at $20,000.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
