ST. GEORGE – After months of practice and preparation, the Fossil Ridge Intermediate School welcomed the community to a magic carpet ride through its enchanted theater department Thursday night as students presented Disney’s “Aladdin Junior.”
“We are very excited to present the magical world of Aladdin, complete with Genie, Iago, Jafar, Sultan, and of course Jasmine and Aladdin,” Deb Crawford, Fossil Ridge Intermediate School staff said. “FRIS little Theatre has been transformed into Agrabah, and we invite you to join us for a great evening of entertainment.”
Adapted from Disney’s 1992 animated film, “Aladdin Jr.” features tuneful songs from the Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice. The audience watched as Aladdin, Jasmine, and the beloved genie journeyed into “a whole new world,” while trying to stay out of the clutches of the evil Jafar.
Fossil Ridge’s “Aladdin Jr.” show producer Teresa Bosen, who has been a theater teacher for more than 13 years, said the talent this year is phenomenal. “These kids are amazing. It is a great experience for them and for the audience to see the rewards of all their hard work,” she said.
The show will continue to run Jan. 24-25, 27, 30, 31, and Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. The production is open to the public and all are invited to attend to support local theater in the community and take part in this dazzling spectacle that includes song, dance, and beautiful set design.
“This is low cost, good quality, family entertainment, and it is really fun,” Bosen said.
