Home fire in The Palisades in Ivins

IVINS – Ivins City Fire and Rescue responded to a residential fire at 110 North Park Avenue Way in The Palisades neighborhood of Ivins around 3 p.m. Sunday.

The residence is an approximate 2,337 square foot home owned by Ron Zimmerman who was home at the time the fire broke out.

It appeared to exhale smoke through its roof and then spew out flames as fire crews addressed the fire.

Santa Clara / Ivins Police Department closed off North Park Avenue Way shortly after the fire began.

Santa Clara Fire Department gave assist and St. George Fire Department arrived to provide backup just before 4 p.m.

Zimmerman said he lives most of the time in Pennsylvania but uses this home as a winter home. He was home watching TV Sunday with a gas fireplace on when he heard a bunch of loud noises. He went outside, he said, and couldn’t figure it out. Then he went back inside, he said, and kept hearing loud noises and saw smoke.

He doesn’t know what started it, Zimmerman said, the fire seemed to stay between the ceiling and the roof.

“It has to be electrical,” Zimmerman said.

When he went back outside, Zimmerman said, neighbors had already called the fire department. He was able to remove his car from the garage.

There were no other people living in or at the home when the fire broke out, Zimmerman said. He was home alone and he has no pets.

    Once again our selfless volunteers have come together to save property here in Ivins. What a great bunch of folks these people are!
