Game outlook: The Cougars go deep into their bench as 10 players average more than 15 minutes per game. APU’s offense is dominated by its guard play as preseason All-Pac West players Leaf (19.7 ppg, 4.4 apg) and Sandoval (11.7 ppg, 5.4 apg) are equally dangerous scoring or setting up the score. Their post players are undersized, but have been effective on the boards, out-rebounding their opponents. Despite a double-double from preseason Pac West Player of the Year Robbins, Dixie is coming off its first loss of the year, losing the third leg of its Hawaii trip decisively to Hawaii Pacific. The Red Storm have typically played well after poor performances this season and they are back at Burns Arena for only their third home game this year. The only common opponents are conference foes Fresno Pacific and Notre Dame de Namur, which both teams have beaten. APU presents a challenge, but not of the same caliber as Chaminade and HPU. Plus, Dixie is at home and looking to exact punishment after suffering its first loss.
