KONY Coins for Kids returns, cars dontated to cause

ST. GEORGE – KONY Coins for Kids has been providing needy children in the Washington County area much needed Christmas toys and clothing for 23 years. The nonprofit charity has a goal of $125,000 this year which comes from generous local donors.

Every year the charity takes care of 1,500-2,200 children. There are no overhead costs because the KONY Coins for Kids has no paid employees. All members of the board are volunteers, along with the 500-plus shoppers, wrappers, and Santa’s that deliver the toys directly to the children.

Carl Lamar of Canyon Media and KONY Country’s Carl Lamar Show, is the president of the charity and is excited about a special donation this year.

“The Stephen Wade Family Foundation donated several cars to the charity,” Lamar said. “With a $10 donation you get one entry for a donation drawing ticket and a chance to win a car.”

The drawing will be held for the cars on Dec 19. People can pick up an entry for the donation drawing at the Canyon Media studios at 619 South Bluff St., the Stephen Wade Auto Group, Keller Williams Realty, or Cache Valley Bank on Tabernacle Street in St. George.

“The donation by Stephen Wade Auto Group to Coins for Kids is extremely generous and will help us take care of the many needy children we have on our list this year,” the KONY Coins for Kids charity said in a statement.
