ST. GEORGE — With Region 9 games beginning Wednesday, the St. George News sports staff helps prepare fans for the 2013-14 region season with a series of boys basketball previews.
PINE VIEW PANTHERS

2012-2013 Record: 13-9 (Tied for 4th in region with 6-6 record)

Key Substitutes: Cason Prisbrey, Garrett Bowker, Jed Newby
Lineup: The Panthers return three starters from last year’s team. Pine View will be anchored in the post by Kody Wilstead. He will be flanked by Collin Dowdell, Ryan Koller and Cason Prisbrey. In the backcourt, Chaz Petersen will man the point with Jack Bangerter playing the off guard. Also seeing key minutes will be Garrett Bowker, Blake Ence, Carter Milne and Jeb Newby.
Outlook: The Panthers will play a lot of bodies in a high-pressure, high-velocity full-court game. The Panthers put up 84 points in their first game against Enterprise. Nine of the 13 players that played, scored. Out of those nine, five scored in double-figures, led by Petersen’s 24.
Coach Says: “We have had tremendous success in our camps and training,” said Coach Larsen. “It has shown in our football program. That success will carryover in our basketball program. The boys have put in the work and we have the talent to do some great things this year in the region.”
