Terrible I-15 conditions cause multiple accidents

IRON COUNTY — Heavy snow and icy road conditions have caused multiple traffic incidents across Iron County tonight. There have been at least four significant accidents as of 7:00 p.m, as well as multiple reports of vehicles sliding off the road, according to radio dispatches from the Cedar Communications Center.

Snow, wind, and some icy spots have been reported along I-15 throughout all of Iron County .  The worst driving conditions reported so far are near the Washington County border in the “black ridge” area, Utah Highway Patrol Public Information Officer, Todd Royce said. The most severe road conditions run from Exit 27, the Toquerville exit, all the way to Exit 40, the Kolob Canyon exit.

Royce said that the UHP Troopers in Southern Utah are very busy responding to accidents this evening, and they have not yet been able to provide specific details about the accidents on I-15. We do not expect a clear statement on any of these events until tomorrow.
