ST. GEORGE – Washington County lost one of its commissioners last Wednesday, Nov. 13, and today, funeral services will be held honoring his legacy.
Gayle McClain Aldred was born July 15, 1930, in Mapleton, Utah. After graduation from Springville High School, he enlisted in the Navy and served as an electrician on a ship in the Korean War from 1949 until 1951.
Gayle also served on the board of directors at Sun Capital Bank and SunFirst Bank. He was encouraged to run for the position of County Commissioner in 1987 and was elected to that position. Serving from 1988 until 2002, he was instrumental in the development of several projects that have benefitted the community: The Washington County Fairgrounds, The Dixie Center, Enhanced 911, and many, many more. He had a great love for seniors and was instrumental in the creation of the new Senior Center which is named after Gayle and his wife Mary.
Funeral Services
- Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the St. George LDS Stake Center, 591 West 500 North, St. George.
- Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery.
