Washington County Veterans Day Parades

WASHINGTON COUNTY – It is a day to come together as a community and as a nation to honor the service and sacrifices of all great military men, women and their families at the Washington City and St. George City Veterans Day Parades. The American Legion’s Veterans Day Parade will be held on Main Street in St. George, Monday at 9:30 a.m., and the Washington City Veterans Day Parade will take place on Telegraph Street in Washington, Monday at 11:11 a.m.

After years of scheduling conflicts, the City of St. George and Washington City began collaborating their parade schedules in 2012 to allow participants and spectators to attend both. Spectators at both parades will enjoy parade entries honoring the troops on active duty, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders.

Sponsored by the American Legion, Post 90, and the City of St. George, the St. George parade’s theme this year is “Freedom Isn’t Free,” and they are planning the biggest celebration to date. Following the parade, there will be a Freedom isn’t Free program in the historic Tabernacle at 18 South Main Street, beginning at 10:45 a.m.

The Washington City Veterans Day Parade begins at 11:11 a.m. and is followed by a Veterans ceremony and a Veterans lunch, which will be held at Veterans Park, 75 East Telegraph, in Washington.
