ST. GEORGE – There’s a new watering hole in town with delectable sweet and fizzy, icy cool and hot indulgences at the ready to “splash” your tastebuds. Fabulous Freddy’s Splash Custom Built Drinks is now open with convenient walk-in or drive-through access at the top of Bluff Street in St. George, adjunct to Fabulous Freddy’s Car Wash. Grand opening Saturday will offer samples and discounts.

Splash provides the “materials,” and you specify the build: From fountain drinks, Italian ices, freezes to floats – splash them with a thick and fruity purée shot or flavor varieties of all sorts. Make ‘em fruity, dirty, rich or flirty. Give it a shot, why not?

Coconut, cherry, grape and mangoe, berries aplenty, banana, green apple. Chocolate and vanilla, even cinnamon; lemon and lime and don’t forget the pomegranate.

These drinks please: Sweet or diet, that first sip infuses the Splash-drinker as it goes down. Courteney Smith chose a shot of coconut to splash into her Dr. Pepper Thursday. “It’s good,” she said, with a sparkling smile.

Whatever you build, it’s worth a lot: They’ll give it your name so others can try it.

And perhaps most coveted of all are the cookies. In collaboration with Dutchman’s Cravings Cookies, Splash brings the fix to the cookie-addict that struggled to survive when the cookies stopped for a time after Dutchman’s Market in Santa Clara was flooded in September 2012. Dutchman’s is back and so are their cookies, now offered closer at hand for those in or passing through St. George.

These saucer-sized chewy cakes come in the tried-and-true favorite sugar cookie with pink frosting, peanut butter, chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip and the O’Henries – a rice crispy peanut butter bar that some argue steals the show.

“They’re for sure the best sugar cookies in town,” Rikki Phillip said, selecting a dozen (cheaper by the dozen) cookies for a soccer party Thursday. “My kids love them, they’re great.”

Like their soda offerings, Splash invites the customers to custom build on the cookies – make them a platform for an ice cream Sunday, or pick two and sandwich ice cream between them.

With hard ice cream in vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, strawberry, rocky road, chocolate cookie dough, and strawberry sherbet, the sweet and cool possibilities are numerous.

Splash held a soft opening over the past two weeks but holds its Grand Opening Saturday. One and all are welcome to come in on Saturday and try samples of Splash custom drinks, buy-one-get-one-free cookies, 50-cent fountain drinks and, while you’re at it, 50 percent off any carwash during the hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Splash promotions to the community start but do not end with the grand opening Saturday. Showing its Dixie spirit, every time Dixie State University’s Red Storm has a home game in football or basketball, Splash’s fountain drinks in any size will be offered for only 50 cents all day long. Adding splashes of flavor or purée is optional for 20-45 cents extra.

Fabulous Freddy’s Car Washes are situated in five locations in Las Vegas, two in St. George and most recently one in Sandy.

Fabulous Freddy’s Splash Custom Built Drinks is being introduced first in St. George at the 806 North Bluff Street location, with effervescent enthusiasm already and expectations for expansion into the other other Fabulous Freddy’s locations.

Situated inside Fast Freddy’s fully stocked convenience store of grocery items, drinks, dairy, cigarettes, candy, beer, sundries and other such things, Splash is open the same hours as the Fabulous Freddy’s convenience store – both walk-in and drive-through: From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 6 a.m. to midnight Friday-Saturday, and 7 am. To 10 p.m. Sunday.

Fabulous Freddy’s aim is your convenience, for carwash, store shopping and the effervescent Splash, drive-through is always an option.

It was only a matter of time before a real company took Swig to a whole new level. The idea was nice but the owners thought they knew it all, I guess when Freddy’s takes the market over we will know what real innovation looks like.

This doesn’t look all that innovative. Most likely it will be shuttered within a year.

    Swig is way better y’all
