Game Preview Capsule: Dixie State (3-5) at Simon Fraser (2-5)

GAME PREVIEW CAPSULE
Dixie State (3-5, 3-4) at Simon Fraser University (2-5) today, 3 p.m., Terry Fox Field, Burnaby, B.C.
Previous Meeting: Red Storm 39 Clan 12 (October 5, 2013 at Hansen Stadium)
Broadcast: ESPN SportsRadio 106.1 FM

CLAN
header_logoHead Coach: Dave Johnson (8th year, 26-46)
Offense: Multiple
Defense: Multiple
Last Game: Lost to Western Oregon, 30-16
PPG: 21.4
PAPG: 34.0
Players to watch: The clan are led by QB Mitchell Rushton and RB Chris Tolbert. Defensively they are led by linebacker Cody Chin.
Trend: The Clan rely extensively on their passing game. If Jake Duncan, Nick Largent and Robert Metz can stem any tide the Clan presents early, the defense will continue to lead the day. The Red Storm offense is a juggernaut, especially when Robles gets the chance to use his legs.

RED STORM
dsulogoHead coach: Scott Brumfeld (4th year, 9-31 overall)
Offense: Pistol, Pro Set
Defense: Pro 4-3
Last Game: Beat Humboldt State 28-19
PPG: 30.0
PAPG: 31.9
Players to watch: While Griff Robles became the only GNAC player in history to rush and pass for over 200 yards in a single game, he almost pulled the feat earlier against the Clan, missing the feat by 21 rushing yards. Joe Don Duncan and Mitch Frei continue to impress, catching everything thrown their way. Miles Burton rushed 130 yards in the previous matchup.
Trend: Dixie played well on both sides of the ball last week. This week is an opportunity to put another point in the W column. SFU has been unable to hang with Dixie’s offense. And there is no unit playing better in the GNAC than the Dixie offense.

GAME OUTLOOK
While Dixie has won 3 of its last five, including an earlier blowout win over Simon Fraser, the Clan have lost their last five. The last time these two teams met, Dixie held SFU to 2.2 yards per carry and only 214 yards passing. Dixie jumped out early and only relented late in the fourth once the game had been decided. No one is playing better than Griff Robles right now.

STGnews Prediction: Red Storm 42, Wolves 21
