ST. GEORGE – Traffic through the Red Hills Parkway-Bluff Street intersection was slowed on Friday afternoon after a dump truck overturned in the roadway.

The St. George Police reported that at approximately 2 p.m., the dump truck was traveling south on state Route 18 and attempted to make a left turn onto Red Hills Parkway. The contents hauled by the dump truck – a load of trash from a construction site – shifted while the dump truck was turning and caused it to tip over. Speed was not considered a contributing factor in the accident.

Several lanes of traffic were shut down in the area for nearly two hours and caused long traffic delays. The dump truck’s diver was not issued a citation; however the dump truck’s owner was issued a citation for not having the vehicle registered.

The driver of the truck was not injured and there were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
