Offbeat entertainers invade Springdale for Rocktoberfest weekend

SPRINGDALE – Don’t miss the unique entertainment and perfect autumn weather this weekend in Zion National Park. A handful of one-of-a-kind musicians, and comedians will be performing through Saturday in Springdale, associated with the Rocktober festival.

For a late night of hilarity, check out the comedians, all from the Las Vegas comedy scene, who will be performing at the Zion Canyon Brew Pub Friday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.  The Las Vegas based stand up comedy show will include Jeremy Flores, Jozalyn Sharp, and Brandon “Gooch” Hahn, who is a radio host in Las Vegas.

Out of the Mojave Desert town of Hesperia, Calif., the headlining band for the musical portion of the festival is the raspy country rock group “Duane Mark and the Get Down Bandits.” The Get Down Bandits are a trio comprised of a banjo, stand-up bass, and guitar player.

Other bands  performing Friday and Saturday include the good time jam band, “Jensen Buck and the Family,”  classic rock/pop soloist, Deon Mendenhall, and a traditional kilt wearing, German oompah collective, the “George Staheli Memorial Umpah Ensemble.” See below for full schedule.

The music and comedy acts are free, though charges may apply for other activities such as movie screenings. Movie screenings include Tim Burton’s Halloween films, critically acclaimed film “Gravity” and Canyoneering documentary “Gorging.”

Rocktober fest will also have fire-spinning performers, a jackolantern carving contest, a costume contest, beer gardens and more.
