SALT LAKE CITY — Due to the recent 16-day federal government shutdown, the public comment period for a proposed helium exploration project in the Bureau of Land Management’s Utah Price Field Office will be extended through Nov. 1.
“After assessing our workload and priorities as part of an orderly reopening, we determined that extending the comment period for this project is important to ensure that we are managing BLM-Utah lands with full public input and participation,” BLM-Utah State Director Juan Palma said.
The BLM invites the public to review and comment on an Environmental Assessment analyzing the potential impacts of IACX Energy’s proposal to drill a helium exploration well west of Highway 6 in Emery County. The proposed project would disturb approximately two acres.
The comment period for the Woodside Dome No. 2 Helium Exploration Project will be extended through Nov. 1. The Environmental Assessment linked here is available for public review and comment on the Environmental Notification Bulletin Board.
Written comments will be accepted by letter or email until Nov. 1, 2013. Please note that the most useful comments are those that contain new technical or scientific information relevant to the proposed action.
Comments should be as specific as possible. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.
