Bryant Jensen sets record in St. George Marathon victory

ST. GEORGE — Bryant Jensen and Rosy Lee came in as the top men’s and women’s finishers in the 37th running of the St. George Marathon Saturday morning on a cool, but beautiful morning in Dixie.

Jensen, who finished with a time of 2:15:57, shattered the all-time record for the St. George Marathon set back in 2007 by Nick P. Schuetze. The ideal conditions helped Jensen break the old record by 45 seconds. Schuetze ran the ’07 race in 2:16:42.

Last year’s champion, Fritz Van de Kamp from Millcreek, Utah, placed second, coming in just moments behind Jensen.

For the women, Lee’s time of 2:37:04 was just 58 seconds behind the SGM all-time record also set in 2007. Deeja Youngquist ran the race in 2:36:06 that year.

St. George’s own Amber Lee, who won last year’s St. George Marathon, placed second.
