Utah congressmen for resolution defunding Obamacare

WASHINGTON D.C. – Utah’s congressmen voted and supported a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives this week to defund “Obamacare” and keep the government open.

After voting to support the Continuing Resolution,Reps. Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart and Jason Chaffetz released the following statement:

We were pleased to vote in favor of the House of Representatives Continuing Resolution, which does two important things—defunds Obamacare and keeps the government open and operational. Defunding and repealing Obamacare – one of the most destructive and expensive laws ever passed – is the first step in fixing our health care system in ways that enhance personal freedom and reduce the role of government. We hope Senate Republicans will preserve the defunding language, pass the bill, and send it to the President. The fight is and has always been in the Senate. We encourage them to get this done and bring final resolution to this growing problem.

Sen. Mike Lee applauded the House vote, issuing the following statement:

Today is a victory for the American people. A unified House Republican Caucus has sent a strong message: keep the government open and protect the country from the harmful effects of Obamacare.

The fight now turns to the Senate where we have an equal obligation to do the right thing for the American people.  How many more people have to lose their jobs, wages, and health care benefits before Congress acts?  How many more states have to announce that premiums are going up before we do something to protect the country?  We should not, and will not, allow Senate Democratic leaders to ignore the will of the American people.

The American people never supported Obamacare – and they still don’t. If the American people make their voices heard now and start contacting Senate Democrats, I truly believe that, along with a unified Senate Republicans Caucus, we will convince enough Democrats to finally do the right thing for the country.”

And once again Jim Matheson chooses to pander to keep his cushy job than to do what he knows is the right thing.

Great. We have the best representatives in America. We are proud of them. This so called “Obamacare” is unconstitutional just like this so called “President”.

The republican party has been taken over by a bunch of McCarthyesque quacks backed by a bunch of spineless elected officials. They keep referring to the “American people”. The only people they consider to be “American people” are their tea… base. The “American people” actually elected President Obama on his campaign for “Romney Care”. “Romney Care” passed in the Senate and the House. The U. S. Supreme Court upheld it.

These quacks and their spineless “go alongs” should all be recalled.

It’s OK Orbit. There were a lot of big words in Tom’s post. No one expects you to understand. Go back to Honey Boo Boo and Duck Dynasty.

Four guys with the best healthcare insurance in the country voting to prevent Americans from gaining access to healthcare. How does that count as representing the interests of “the people”? Or is it that the only “people” who count are their corporate supporters and cronies who want an even bigger share of the pie?

  • Lisa September 21, 2013 at 9:45 pm

These guys are no “victory” for America. They have no answers to the health care problems that have plagued our nation for decades while other countries have moved to solve the problem and support their people. They cater to the insurance industry and others associated with that to the detriment of the American public. None of us knows where ACA (Obamacare) will take us, but we do know where what we had was taking us – down the medical drain. People need to stop listening to these fools and others, study, learn and get on board with this change. PBS has been having interesting interviews with people familiar with the law who are answering questions from people on the streets who want to understand how this will affect them. People should tune in and learn.

To Lisa, I’m responding to your comment, not necessarily the article… Its funny you say those guys cater to the insurance industry, I dnt much care and dnt want to debate that, but you do know that obamacare caters even more to insurance industry right?- as it was written by insurance companies. Ha…. And you say what we had is sending us down the medical drain, well how about obamacare sending us down not only the medical drain but also economic, societal drain., as it will stifle the economy even more and do things unrelated to healthcare. It’s a big bill. … And what’s your idea of getting on board the change?- just blindly following and accepting somethng rammed down our throats. It’s unconstitutional legislation.

When we have a Congressional Hearing on Barry this so called “Obama Care” or should I say “Barry Care” will be a minor issue.
